9, 10, and 11 We are pleased to announce that all BHS freshmen, sophomores and juniors are scheduled to take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 11 FREE OF CHARGE!. The PSAT is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT®, which measures skills in:
Writing and Language
The most common reasons for taking the PSAT/NMSQT are to:
Receive feedback on your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study. You can then focus your preparation on those areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice.
See how your performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college.
Enter the competition for scholarships from NMSC (grade 11).
The research is clear, both nationally and locally (including our own student data) that students who take the PSAT perform better on the SAT exam – and those improvements are statistically significant.
The PSAT data also provides counselors with valuable information about AP Potential – Collegeboard provides access to data and tools that help identify students who have potential to take AP courses and do well. We are very excited to have this opportunity for our students in grades 9, 10 and 11. Students must arrive to school ON TIME - Testing begins promptly at 7:15 AM. This opportunity is free of cost to all students!
