BPS Mid-Year Benchmark Data Review

Benchmarking

At the April 7, 2021 School Committee Meeting, Assistant Superintendent Melissa Ryan presented a review of the mid-year benchmark assessment data. The full presentation can be viewed HERE

Of particular note is the data on students social emotional and mental health. The SAEBRS screening assessment was administered to all students in the district and includes a teacher survey and a student self assessment for grades 3-12. It is of particular interest that students rated themselves as at higher risk than their teachers when completing the assessment. The Youth Risk Behavior Survey, which is an anonymous survey given to students in grades 9-12 also indicates social emotional and mental health concerns for students. Parents are encouraged to have open and honest conversations with their students surrounding mental health. Please reach out to your school's guidance and adjustment counselors with specific questions or concerns about your student.
