The goal of our English Language Development Program is to provide students with instruction that is inclusive and honors the various language and cultures found within our student population. Bourne Public Schools has followed all federal and state laws and guidelines in developing the program, and continues to adhere to federal and state laws and guidelines in implementing the program.
We offer Sheltered English Immersion, an inclusionary instructional program in which English Learners are placed in classes with native English speakers. Classroom teachers are trained to implement a variety of effective strategies to meet the unique needs of our English Learners. English Learners also benefit from direct instruction provided by a certified ESL teacher that is scheduled according to need and to ensure no instructional time in the SEI classroom is missed.
