Functional Job Description

 

 

 

Title: BPS Learning Coach

 

Reports to: Principals

 

 

Essential Duties and Performance Responsibilities

 

 

 

 

1.      Supports teachers in the development of active and collaborative learning strategies to meet the needs of all students within inclusive/integrated learning environments

 

  • Researches and shares best practice for student engagement and learning
  • Facilitates workshops, conducts information group discussions, meets with teachers individually
  • Models instruction in the classroom
  • Co-teaches upon teacher request

 

 

 

2.      Collaborates with teachers in use of student formative and summative assessment data for instructional planning

 

  • Assists teachers in selecting useful data to improve instruction
  • Assists teachers in analyzing data and developing action plans to improve instruction and meet a variety of student needs
  • Assists in development of student formative and summative assessments

 

 

 

3.      Provides support and resources in development and sharing of promising new practices and technological learning tools

 

  • Promotes exploration and use of innovative practices universal design for learning, differentiation, technology to ensure all students have access to meaningful and effective learning opportunities
  • Researches, pilots, and helps evaluate print and online resources for curriculum objectives and students' instructional needs

 

 

 

4.      Serves as a consultative resource for teachers seeking information regarding the requirements of the educator evaluation system

 

 

 

Physical Demands

 

 

Must be able to prepare and read documents and use a computer and other office equipment on a daily basis.

 

Auditory and Verbal Communication - Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently both verbally and orally with administrators and staff

 

Physical Abilities - Performing this position requires extended sitting, filing, and use of a computer and other school office equipment.

 

Extended Concentration, Excellent Recall Abilities and the Ability to Remain Calm in Stressful Situations - These capabilities are an important part of properly fulfilling the requirements of this position.

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in a Humanities or STEAM discipline
  • Advanced degree and coursework in reading, writing and/or mathematics highly desirable
  • Three to five years teaching experience with demonstrated innovation as a classroom teacher that includes meaningful use of technology for learning
  • Extensive knowledge of current best practices in instruction, backwards-designed curriculum, and assessment
  • Skilled collaborator with strong interpersonal/communication skills to build effective relationships with staff and parents
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and active investigation of innovative evidence-informed instructional practices
  • Such alternatives to the above as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work on a team, work independently, and carry out complex assignments with general instructions
  • Ability to build and maintain collegial and collaborative relationships with all staff
  • Ability to interact appropriately and in a positive manner with staff and students
  • Ability to learn and understand District rules and procedures and legal requirements
  • Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems and solutions
  • Ability to self-motivate

 

 

 

Salary: In accordance with the BEA CBA
