HIGH SCHOOL/MIDDLE SCHOOL/K-4

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

Reports to:                  Director of Student and Special Education Services/Principal/Assistant Principal

 

Job Goals:                   To expedite the daily workings of the Special Education Services Department office, dealing with Central Administration, students, teachers, and parents, under the direction of the Director of Student and Special Education Services, Special Education Department Head Grades 5-12,  and K-4 Special Education Department Head, in such fashion as to provide maximum facilitation of the special education process.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Serve as receptionist in the High School Special Education Student Services Office.

  1. Type all correspondence for Special Education Department Head.

  1. Type purchase orders as needed. 

  1. Maintain Office Supplies. 

  1. Maintain all active special education files for the high school. 

  1. Maintain all active special education working files for the middle school. 

  1. Maintain all inactive special education files for the school system.

  1. Prepare, type, and mail meeting notices for K-12 special education students. 

  1. Maintain photocopier in high school for student services office. 

  1. Maintain special education meeting schedule board for grades 5-12. 

  1. Prepare special education progress reports for grades 5-12 to be attached to report cards. 

  1. Keep special education information updated on computer database. 

  1. Shred inactive special education files as needed and mandated by the Department of Education. 

  1. Provide assistance to special education student services staff as needed. 

  1. Maintain professional confidentiality in all matters. 

  1. Answer phone and greet people in a friendly and courteous manner. 

  1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student and Special Education Services, High School and Middle School Special Education Department Head, K-4 Special Education Department Head, and Principal/Assistant Principal.

Qualifications:

 

  • Successful completion of high school
  • Facility with word processing and general computer usage
  • Completion of business school/college courses desirable
  • Experience with secretarial work desirable

 

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in writing by the appropriate administrator.
